      Died: On Thursday evening last, Samuel Vanatta, Esq., of Richhill Township, in the 71st year of his age. Squire Vanatta was born January 21, 1792 in Washington Co., served during the War of 1812, and moved to Greene Co. in 1826, at Ryerson Station. He was elected Justice of the Peace in 1843, and continued in that office until his death.       Widely known woman is claimed by death- Mrs. Lucy McGlumphy VanCleve, age 62 Years, dies in Waynesburg following Illness due to Paralysis and complications. Waynesburg, April 10, Mrs. Lucy VanCleve, one of the best known women in Greene County, died Saturday at the home of her daughter, Mrs. James Greenlee of Waynesburg. She was 62 years old an death came after 3 months sickness of paralysis and complications. Mrs. VanCleve was a daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Henry McGlumphy and was born in Morris Twp. where she spent the greater part of her life. She had lived in Waynesburg for the last 3 years. for many years Mrs. VanCleve operated the VanCleve Hotel in Nineveh, an while there she formed a wide acquaintance. She was married to John VanCleve, show death occurred 15 years ago. to this union five children were born, of whom 3 daughters are living as follows: Mrs. Clarence Zahniser and Mrs. James Greenlee of Waynesburg; and Mrs. Silas Durbin of Wind Ridge. She leaves 8 grandchildren. Mrs. VanCleve was a member of a family of 9 children and this death was the first break, the youngest being more than 50 years of ate. The following brothers and sisters survive: George McGlumphy of Washington; Newton McGlumphy of Elm Grove; Benson McGlumpy of Claysville; Sylvester McGlumphy of Ninevah; Salem McGlumphy of Ninevah; Mrs. Rachel Thompson of Rogersville; Mrs. Flora Goodwin of Enon. Mrs. VanCleve was a member of the Methodist Episcopal Church and an active worker. Funeral services will be held at the Greenlee home, West elm. St., Monday afternoon at 1 o'clock. The services will be conducted by Rev. F.D. Ebensein (?), pastor of the first Methodist Episcopal Church of Waynesburg. After the services in Waynesburg, the body will be taken to Hopewell where a short services will be held. Interment will be in the Hopewell cemetery.       Mrs. Vandruff is taken by death. Had been ill for many months at her home in Mannington. Mannington Nov. 21.-Following many months of illness, Mrs. Emma Vandruff died at 11:40 o'clock last night at her home in Houghs addition. Mrs. Vandruff was in her 70th year. The deceased was born in Greene County Aug. 31, 18??. She was twice married and her first marriage was with William Cook who was killed many years ago. To them was born one son, C.J. Cook who is a resident of Grove City, Pa. The second husband J.W. Vandruff is a resident of this city where he has maintained a home in the Hough addition for the past several years. Surviving besides the husband are: 1 stepson John Lindsay Vandruff of Michigan; also one brother and one sister, Mecker Fry of Fairview and Miss Lidia Fry who lives in Ohio. Mrs Vandruff was united with the baptist church when a young woman. Throughout her life and extremely severe illness she has stood untold suffering with patience and fortitude.(blurred) funeral services will be held from the family home before going to Fairview thursday afternoon where the final service will be held from the Baptist Church there at 2 o'clock. Burial will be made in the Ammons cemetery. Huey and Jones have charge of all funeral plans.

      Arthur L. Venom, 63, of Waynesburg R. D. 1, died in the Greene County Memorial Hospital Friday, December 22, 1961, after a short illness. Mr. Venom was born October 31, 1898 in Waynesburg, a son of John and Bertha Chruch Venom. He was a retired coal miner and resided in Waynesburg most of his life.       Mrs. Bertha Venom, wife of John Venom, died yesterday morning at the City Hospital. Typhoid fever was the cause. She was aged 32 years. Her husband and two sons, Arthur and Linn, and the following brothers and sisters survive: Harry Church of Washington; Mrs. Laura Sheppard of Illinois; Mrs. Anna Scott of Washington; and Mrs. Lizzie Stewart of Waynesburg. The mother, Mrs. Samuel Thompson, is also living. Services will be held at the late home Wednesday evening at 7:30 o'clock and the body will be taken to Waynesburg Thursday morning at 8:30. At Waynesburg, services will be held Thursday afternoon at 2 o'clock from the residence of Mrs. Mary Howard, and interment will be in Waynesburg Cemetery.       In Memory of Elizabeth Virgin, aged 81 years, of Jefferson, died unexpectedly at 6:50 p.m. Saturday, February 28, 1987, in Scottsdale (Ariz.) Memorial Hospital. She was born December 16, 1905, in Clarksville to Stephen Ainsley Young and Goldie Moore Young. Her entire life was spent in Jefferson and Khedive areas. She was married August 14, 1925, to Clarence C. Virgin, Sr., who died August 30, 1975. A homemaker, she was a member of Pleasant Valley Presbyterian Church in Clarksville. Surviving are nine daughters, Mrs.Louis (Jean) Policz of Amherst, Ohio, Mrs. James (Marilyn) Dillinger and Mrs. Ken (Nancy) Beeler, both of Chatham, Ohio, Mrs. Carl (Cindy) Stewart of Lodi, Ohio, Mrs. James (Carol) Wells and Mrs. Truman (Judy) Ellis, both of Vermilion, Ohio, Ruth Virgin of Lorain, Ohio, Joan Steinmiller of Jefferson and Lois Eaton of Mather; five sons, Clarence, Jr., Carl and William, all of Jefferson, and James and Ronald, both of Vermilion, Ohio; 45 grandchildren; two brothers, Stephen Young of Rices Landing and Robert Young of Clarksville; and three sisters, Mrs. Emerson (Mary Frances) Robertson of Clarksville, Wilda Teagarden of Clarksville and Mrs. George (Ruth) Monas of Jefferson. Deceased are a son, Robert; two brothers, William and Denzil; a sister, Ellen Rholand, four grandchildren and a great-grandson. Funeral Service Thursday, March 5, 1987 at 1:00pm in the Behm Funeral Home Jefferson, Pa.
