This is a page still under construction, and may be changed
from time to time as new history comes in. Susi and I have 
connectedg our two lines together, My Joseph Huffman,
married Sarah Hunt. Joseph was born ca, 1801. 
Susi's line is from Henry, and Elizabeth (Higgins) 
Huffman. Joseph and Henry are brothers. Below you will find 
the research of all the Huffmans of Greene 
Co., Pa. Any surnames in bold or capitalized are our lines.

George Huffman recorded 19 Aug 1757 made same date between Thomas 
Schley in Frederick Town for 12 pounds current money Maryland, 
sells lot in Frederick Town #55, 60 ft. by 181 ft., with all 
advantages, to pay annual rents to Daniel Dulaney. Signed Thomas 
Schley before Thos Beatty, Andrew Heugh.  Deed ack., and Maria 
Margretha Schley released dower rights.

Stephen Ramsburgh, John Bruner, George Huffman, and George 
Linganfelter, Elders of the Dutch Reformed or Presbyterian 
Congregation in Frederick Town, recorded 14 May 1764, made 12 May 
between Daniel Dulaney of Annapolis, Barrister at Law, son & heir 
at law to Daniel Dulaney, deceased. Whereas Daniel Dulaney 
deceased did agree to sell and upon request to convey a certain 
lot or portion of ground for the use of the said Congregation, 
and did receive the consideration for the same, but departed this 
life without conveying the same, now this indenture witnesseth 
that in consideration of the premises, and the conditions
hereinafter mentioned, sells all that lot whereon the Church or 
place of worship belonging to and set apart for the use of the 
Congregation has been built and constructed, to be set aside for 
the use of the congregation, and upon the condition following the 
that they shall pay one shilling current money for five years, 
commencing the 3d Tuesday in November, and after 5 years the sum 
of 2 shillings yearly. Signed Daniel Dulaney, Stephen Ramsburgh, 
Johannes Bruner, George J. Hufman, George Lingenfeltner. 
Witnessed by John Darnall, Stephen West. On the back of which 
deed was the following indorsement to wit: "on the 12th day of 
May 1764 after the examination of the within deed, Livery
and Seisen was delivered by the within Feoffer Daniel Dulaney 
to the within Feoffees, Stephen Ramsberg, John Bruner, George 
Huffman and George Lingenfelter of the lot within mentioned 
according to the intent and purpose of the within deed by entry 
of him the said Daniel Dulaney in and upon the said lot, and 
delivery of a Feoff in the value of the whole and for the purpose 
of given Seisin of the said lot. Witness John Darnall, Stephen 
West. Deed then back.

Huffman had a son, Peter, born 1892, we have a complication 
of John and Peter Huffman
...The Peter Huffman, whose wife was Elizabeth and who died
about 18__, could hardly have been the grandfather of Peter
C., who died about the same time, UNLESS, Peter C. was a
young man when he died. This is indicated by his having
no real estate and his mention of a little son, Edward Lee,
who he commends to the care of his father, John, of Jackson
township, who's will is dated October 18, 1880, Will Book
 6, p.6, and who's wife was Elizabeth, names of sons: 
George, William, Jesse, Johm & GEORGE (typo)(Peter), and 
daughters, Ann, wife of S.H. Mitchell, Elizabeth, wife of 
Homer C. Fordyce, and Jane, wife of John Fordyce.
...Since this Peter Fordyce?(Huffman) had a son, John, he 
may be the grandfather. All depends on the age of Peter C.
at the time of his death.

...Peter C., whose will was dated May 10, 1880, Recorded
April 16, 1881, Will Book 5, p. 235.
...This Peter Co, says in his will that he is a s/o John,
and grandson of Peter, Sr.
...His wife was Rachel, and he did not own any real
estate. Mentions only a little son, Edward Lee Huffman,
whom he commits to the care of the grandfather, John.
...The other Peter Huffman's will is dated, May 10, 1880.
Recorded in Will Book 6, p. 6. His wife was 
Elizabeth and he had sons: George, John, William and
Peter--indication that he was the grandfather of Peter C.
and the Peter Sr., who with wife Elizabeth, quit claimed 
to George Huffman, Jr., the 113, acres bequeathed to him by
his father, George Sr., by deed dated October 18, 1857.
...If this is correct we have George Sr., the father of 
this Peter, grandfather, of John, who was the father of 
Peter C.
...If this is the one who patented the 203 acres in 1838,
which had been warranted in 1838, by Samuel McCarl, he is
probably the same who, November 14, 1870, with his wife 
Elizabeth, conveyed 220 acres to Levi H. Mitchell, 
probably a son-in-law.
...Also the same Peter Huffman, who with Samuel McCarl, 
give bond to Joseph McCarl, September 8, 1837, Deed 
Book 8, p.611.

  I make this note from a list of Huffmans, which we 
copied previous to 1947, to the effect that Zachariah 
was a son of David & Arrose (Dillworth)
Huffman, born Cumberland Co., in 1739, and located in Center 
Township, Greene Co., in 1771.
  Married Ann Wiseacre in 1788, and 
had three sons, Staley, Joseph and Thomas.
  This above differs some from Mr. Horn's Sketch on pp.
719 and is filed in File#1, under H.
