The date and original publication were not included in the file, but I believe that this would have happened in 1965. I thought that the ages of the victims made it particularly tragic. My sympathy goes out to the survivors. "UNIONTOWN - A former Greene County woman and her four small children burned to death Monday in a raging fire at their home near Uniontown. Mrs. Martha Mae Harvey Garrison, 22, and her four children perished in an early morning fire Monday at their home in Little Brownfield, near Uniontown. Her husband, Homer, 23, suffered serious burns and is in fair condition in Uniontown Hospital after trying to re-enter the house in a rescue attempt. Mrs. Garrison and her four children were found in their beds apparently overcome by smoke and unable to escape the blaze. The children were Homer Jr., 5; Thomas 3; Karen Louise 2 and Stephen 16 months. Homer was to celebrate his sixth birthday Monday. Firemen at the scene said the fire was believed to have been caused by an oil heater which exploded. The two and a half room bungalow was completely destroyed. Mrs. Garrison was born January 27, 1943, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Edgar Max Harvey of Dilliner. Her husband, Homer, is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Ira Ross Garrison of Greensboro. Surviving in addition to her husband and parents are three brothers, Edward of Washington, D.C.; Grant of Cleveland, Ohio and William of Dilliner; two sisters, Pearl Swistok of Cleveland, Ohio and Priscilla Harvey of Dilliner. Also surviving is her grandmother, Mrs. Grace Harvey of Dilliner." Brian Brian D. Core P.O.
