McCullough, his wife. [p.108] Ebenezer Zane, 1777, was in the
defense of Fort Henry and commander at Wheeling, when the
garrison repulsed the British and Indians after a three days
siege. The courage of his sister, Elizabeth, who ran the gauntlet
of the Indians to obtain powder, places her among the heroines of
the Revolution. He was the founder of the town of Zanesville.

Virginia F. C. Stanbery, his wife. Gr.-granddaughter of Daniel
Zane and Cynthia Zane, his wife. Gr.-gr.-granddaughter of
Ebenezer Zane and Elizabeth McColloch, his wife. Ebenezer Zane,
1777, served in the defense of Fort Henry at Wheeling, and his
youngest sister, Elizabeth, was the heroine of the garrison. In
1782, after a three days' siege, the British and Indians that
attacked the fort were repulsed. He was given a grant of land,
