======================= Clarence A. "Jim" Taylor, 56, of RD 1, Waynesburg, died at 11 p.m. Friday, July 20, 1973. He was born July 4, 1917 in Morgan Township near Waynesburg, the son of the late Clarence C. and Emma Cree Taylor. He was married October 23, 1937 to Mildred Watson Taylor, who survives. Mr. Taylor had spent most of his life in the Waynesburg-Jefferson area and was a 1938 graduate of Waynesburg High School. He was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church of Lippincott and a veteran of the Korean conflict, having served with Company K, a local national guard unit. He was active in American Legion affairs and a member of the James Ferrell Post 330, having served as past commander. He had been Chef-DeGare of the 40 and 8 Voiture 1020 and at the time of his death was president of the Tri-State District of the 40 and 8. For the past 29 years he had been employed by Equitable Gas. He had also been active in farming and stock raising. Mr. Taylor was a member of the East Franklin Grange, the Loyal Order of the Moose 461 and the Disabled Veterans Association. He was president of the local union of the Equitable Gas Company. His father had been a former Greene County Sheriff and former Commissioner of Greene County. Surviving in addition to his wife are three sons; Mark C. of Warrensville, Ohio, Gary L. of Macedonia, Ohio, and Gene C. of Glen Burnie, Maryland; one daughter, Mrs. Allen "Vicki" Antill of RD 1 Waynesburg; two brothers, Harry A. of New Mexico and Paul of Rices Landing; one sister, Mrs. Edith Taylor Haines of Phoenix, Arizona; a step-mother, Mrs. Helen Pyle Taylor of RD 1, Waynesburg; a half-brother, Scott Taylor of New York and 12 grandchildren. He was retired in 1960 from Diamond Alkaline Company, Painesville, Ohio. He spent most of his life in the Wadestown area except for the last 30 years that he spent at Nettle Hill. He was a member of the Centennial Church of God. Survivors include his wife, Doris Pethel Taylor, who he married on May 24, 1922; one daughter, Mrs. Clarence "Inez" Stockdale, Painesville, Ohio; two sons, Milton of Geneva, Ohio and Robert of Carden, Ohio; 21 grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren; four brothers, Robert of Warren, Ohio, Glen of Salem, West Virginia, Raymond of Adrian, Michigan, and Virgil of Bay City, Michigan, and three sisters, Mrs. Lucy Kuhn, Adrian, Michigan, Mrs. Inez Haught, Jollytown and Mrs. Regina Griffith, Richmond, Michigan. Mrs. Taylor was a well known Greene County woman. She was born Sept. 15, 1869, at Kuhntown, and was a daughter of Israel Shriver, a Civil War veteran, and Mary Jane Cole Shriver. She was married to Joseph Taylor, who died about 27 years ago. She spent the greater part of her life at Bluff, but lived in Waynesburg for the last seven years. She was the mother of four children, Mrs. Edward White, of Waynesburg; William Taylor, Waynesburg, R.D.2; Roy Taylor, Waynesburg, and Dewey Taylor, PineBank, R.D.2. She reared four other children, one of whom is Pfc. Claude Mansfield, now stationed in Camp Dix, N.J., who lived with her for 14 years, until he entered the service. Mrs. Taylor was the last of a family of four children. She was a member of the Mt. Zion Methodist Church.======================= Harles L. "Pete" Taylor, 90, of RD 2, Waynesburg, died at 3 a.m. on Saturday, October 20, 1979, in the Greene County Memorial Hospital following an extended illness. He spent all of his life in the Waynesburg area; was a member of the First Baptist Church of Waynesburg; a veteran of World War I; a member of James Ferrell Post 330 of the American Legion; a past Chef DeGare of the forty and eight; a member of the Waynesburg VFW 4793; a life member of Waynesburg Elks 757; a charter member of the Greene County Country Club; and for over forty years was a well known grocery merchant. Born July 7, 1880, in Gilmore Township, a son of Hezekiah and Margaret Jane Stiles Taylor, he was a carpenter until his retirement in 1945 and had worked for the Peoples Natural Gas Company in Pittsburgh. He was a member of the West Washington Methodist Church, the Men's Bible Class of that church and prior to moving to Hundred, three years ago, had been a member of the Official Board. He sang in the choir and was a member of the mixed quartet with which he traveled throughout Washington and Greene Counties singing at church functions. He was twice married. His first wife, Flo Belle Knight Taylor, died June 15, 1939. Surviving from this marriage are two daughters, Mary Cloe McDonald, Winterhaven, Fla.; Nadine Delores Stern, Pittsburgh; a son, Charles O., of McDonald, O. He married again April 12, 1941, in Washington to Nora Hostutler, who survives with the following brothers and sisters: William C. of Waynesburg; Harry B., Grand Rapids, Mich.; Charles W., of White Creek, W.Va.; Cassie F. Lemons, of West Alexander; Owen L.; Bessie M. Martell, Solomon, Kan.; Mable L. Taylor, Akron, Ohio; and two grandchildren. Two children are deceased.======================= Joseph Dewey Taylor, 76, RD 2, Pine Bank, died at 11:25 a.m. Sunday, June 2, at University Hospital in Morgantown. He was born on March 23, 1898 at Bluff, Pa., the son of the late Josephus and Francis Caroline Shriver Taylor. He resided in the Bluff and Waynesburg areas all his life and worked for years as a tool dresser and driller in this area and in Canada. For the past few years, he was a mechanic in his own garage in Bluff. He was married on November 28, 1923 to Irene Hamilton, who survives. The couple had just celebrated their 50th e\wedding anniversary last November. Death was caused by a cerebral hemorhage which she suffered at her home March 13. A daughter of the late George and Catherine Knisley Cole, she was born in Wayne Township, near Kuhnstown, Sept. 25, 1874, but had spent most of her life in Waynesburg. She was the widow of James E. Taylor, whose death occurred three years ago this month. Mrs. Taylor had been a member of the Waynesburg Christian Church for more than 30 years and had also been a member of East Franklin Grange for many years. She was active in church work and the grange, having been a member of the church choir and different church groups. In the grange she was quite active in programs and plays and continued active in both church and grange work up to a few days before her last illness. She is survived by three sons; Ralph E. and Charles W. Taylor, of Waynesburg, and George, of Westminster, Calif.; one sister, Mrs. Elizabeth Phillips, of Rogersville, and two brothers, H.W. Cole, of Waynesburg, RD 4, and Albert Cole of Dunns Station, RD. Also by two grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. His wife, Nellie Loar Taylor, preceded him in death May 9, 1952. Mr. Taylor was a retired employee of Peoples Natural Gas Company after working with them for 30 years. Zion Church at Castile and the Lady Greene Rebekah Lodge of Waynesburg. Surviving are four children, Daniel Walter Taylor of Los Angeles, Calif.; Mrs. Jessie Fordyce, wife of Henry Fordyce, Harlas "Pete" Taylor and Charles "Red" Taylor, all of Waynesburg. Tedrow, of Waynesburg RD 4, East View, died Sunday, March 24, 1974 at the West Virginia University Medical Center after having been seriously ill for the past five weeks. A retired farmer and stock raiser, he was formerly employed by the Pennsylvania Department of Highways. He is survived by his wife, Dawn Lemley; two daughters, Mrs. Bruno "Louise" Kasmarcak of Rices Landing, Mrs. Maxine Housley of Baltimore, Md.; a son, Raymond of Bedford, Ohio; four grandchildren and also several nieces and nephews. He was affiliated with the First Christian Church of Waynesburg and was a member if the Men's Bible Class. He was the last of his immediate family. He attended the First Christion Church of Waynesburg and was a former roller at the Waynesburg Tin Mill and also working at Jessop Steel in Washington for a number of years. Mr. Tennant also was a farmer. His wife, Fannie Elixabeth Botzell Tennant, died March 11, 1964. Also surviving are two sisters, Mrs. Lulu Willard, of Waynesburg, and Mrs. Crille White, of Titusville; one granddaughter, Bonnie Delaney Seltz, of Belmont, Mich., whom the Tennants raised, and 45 other grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren. Mr. Tennant died Friday, June 19, 1964. He had been in poor health for the past three years but death was unexpected. Tennant, 52, of Pine Bank, RD 1, died suddenly Saturday, Oct. 9, 1965, in the University Medical Center, Morgantown, W. Va. He was born Aug. 27, 1913, at Pine Bank, a son of the late Charles C. and Ethel Frankenberry Tennant. Mr. Tennant resided most of his life in the Pine Bank area where he was a member of the Bula Baptist Church. He was a member of UMWA No. 2122 and was employed at the Pursglove No. 15 mine. He married Irene Headlee, who survives. He and his wife joined the Overseas Missionary Fellowship and were serving as missionaries in the Phillipines when he contracted polio in 1956. In 1967, he and his wife returned to Waynesburg where they started the Thompson Christian Bookstore, even though Rev. Death was due to complications caused by her age. She had been ill for six weeks. Mrs. Thompson, a daughter of Henry and Martha King McGlumphy, was born March 5, 1851, in Springhill Township. Most of her life was spent in Rogersville and she was a member of the Rogersville Christian Church. She was active in the work of her church as long as able to attend. She was twice married, in 1872 she was married to William H. Church, who died in 1890, and in 1895 she married Samuel Thompson, a Civil War veteran, who died in 1925. Following his retirement from J & L, he worked for the Pennsylvania Department of Highways. He was a member of UMWA Local 6159 in Bobtown, and a longtime member of Davistown United Methodist Church where he served in many capacities, including Sunday school superintenent. "Red" Todd, 23, of Wind Ridge, died Sunday, January 19, 1992, as a result of injuries suffered in a highway accident that day on Route 21 in Richhill Township. He was born November 13, 1968, in Waynesburg, a son of Roger M. and Mary R. Gump Todd of Wind Ridge. Mr. Todd lived all his life in Wind Ridge. He attended Wind Ridge Christian Church. M. Saturday, March 20, 1993, in St. Clair Memorial Hospital, Mt. Lebanon Township. Born March 9, 1905, in Bristoria, she was a daughter of W. T. and Mattie B. Couch Staggers. She had resided in Washington prior to moving to Peters Township in 1990. She was a member of Crossroads Church of Christ in Peters Township. Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Ernest "Karen" Maley Sr. of Pittsburgh and Mrs. Andrew "Darlene" Pahanish of McMurray; six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren, and one brother, Oakey "Bill" Staggers of Graysville. Deceased are two husbands, William Leroy McDonough, who died in 1950, and William E. Tustin, who died in 1979; two sons, Eugene Leon McDonough and William Hershell McDonough; and six brothers, John, Seamen, Bert, Dewey, Milo and Stacy Staggers.======================= Paul C. Tuttle, 32, of RD 3, Waynesburg, died Friday, March 9 at 8:20 p.m. at the Greene County Memorial Hospital following injuries recieved in an automobile accident. He was born March 9, 1947 in Franklin Township, the son of Russell Tuttle of Waynesburg and Ruby Tennant Phillips of RD 1, Pine Bank. He was a 1966 graduate of West Greene High School where he was a member of the Wrestling Team. He served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam era. He was employed by the McGuire Corporation, a mine construction firm, as a foreman. Surviving in addition to his parents is his wife, Erma Morris Tuttle, whom he married May 17, 1966. Also surviving are four sons, Paul Tuttle of Waynesburg, and Paul Kenneth Tuttle, Douglas Tuttle, and Ronald Tuttle at home; one daughter, Judy Tuttle at home; three brothers, Russell Tuttle of the U.S. Army Aberdeen Proving Grounds, Md., Cecil Tuttle of Alliance, Ohio and Charles Tuttle of Waynesburg; two sisters, Mrs. Charles "Ellen" Lemley and Mrs. Terry "Virginia" Richter, both of RD 4, Waynesburg; a step-mother, Mrs. Annis Tuttle of Waynesburg; a step-father, Earl Phillips of RD 1, Pine Bank.
