=========No X's======== ======================= Isaac Yeager, aged 80, well known Wayne township farmer and a descendant of one of Greene County's pioneer settlers, died Wednesday morning, Feb. 23, of heart trouble. He was a son of Alexander and Lucy Thralls Yeager and was born Sept. 15, 1846, in Monongalia County, West Virginia, but when he was but a small boy the family moved to Wayne township, where he had since resided, following farming and stock raising all his life. His great-grandfather, George Yeager, was on the first white settlers west of the fort on Jake's Run and when nine years old was captured by the Indians, with whom he lived until he was a young man. His brother secured his release in a trade with the Indians and he returned to civilized life, serving under General "Mad Anthony" Wayne during the Rev. war. Isaac Yeager was married to Elizabeth Steele, who survives with four sons; D. A. Yeager and D. F. Yeager, of Spraggs; A. P. Yeager, of Dunns Stations, and J. I. Yeager, of Lisbon, Ohio. He also leaves four sisters; Mrs. Louise Masters, of Belmont, Ohio; Mrs. Sarah Shultz, of Brave; Mrs. Amelia Shultz, of Waynesburg, RD and Mrs. Charlotte Phillips, of Spraggs. There are also 11 grandchildren and five great- grandchildren. Mr. Yeager was a charter member of the Blacksville IOOF lodge and was a member of the M. E. South church. Funeral services will be held at the Yeager home Friday morning at 10 o'clock and interment will be in the Porter cemetery.======================= Lon Yeager, 88, of 324 South Washington Street, Waynesburg, formerly of Washington Township, died at 8:43 p.m. Sunday, March 30, 1986, at Tedrow's Rest Home following an extended illness. He was born November 21, 1897, in Wayne Township near Spraggs, a son of A. Pratt and Ruth Ellen Lemley Yeager. He was affiliated with the Methodist Church. A resident of the area his entire life, he was a teamster, farmer and stockraiser. Surviving is a sister, Erma Yeager, of Waynesburg. A brother, Arleigh, is deceased.======================= Thomas Wilson Yeager, 73, of Waynesburg, RD 5 a lifetime Greene County resident who was in charge of farming operations at the county home farm for 15 years died at 2:30 A. M. Wednesday, April 25, 1973 in Greene County Memorial Hospital. He had been in failing health for the past five years, having previously suffered a stroke and from heart trouble. He entered the hospital only a few days. Following his retirement from the county home farm operation he continued to do custom farming during harvest seasons as long as his health permitted. Mr. Yeager was born May 10, 1899 in Center Township, a son of Thomas and Elma Shaw Yeager and spent his early life in that section. He is survived by his wife, Hattie Crocker Yeager; one daughter, Mrs. Norma Keller of Waynesburg, RD 4, and three sons, Donald J., of Pine Bank; Kenneth Paul of Mt. Morris Star Route and Ivan at home; one sister, Mrs. Pearl Bolton, of Washington; 24 grandchildren and five great grandchildren. Yeater, former resident of Washington and Waynesburg, died in his home in Harrisburg, Monday, February 23 1953, at 1:30 am, following a long illness. Mr. Yeater was born Sept 14 1885, at Waynesburg, a son of J. Frank and Lala McGlumphy Yeater. Surviving are his wife Agnes, and the following children: Mrs. Paul Moore, Wolfdale; Mrs. John Knisely, Nineveh; Mrs. Guy Cox, Appollo; Jack W. Yeater, a master Sergeant in the Us. S. Army, just returned from Korea and now in Harrisburg; the following brothers and sisters: Mrs. Frank Shaw and Mrs. James F. Cobern, both of Washington; H. Frank Yeater, Aliquippa. Also surviving are several grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held in Harrisburg Thursday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock Burial will in the Harrisburg Cemetery. He was born August 22, 1924, in Holbrook, a son of Raymond YODERS of Washington and the late Lura Mildred HALL YODERS. Surviving, in addition to his father, are his wife, Texa Ruth BLOUIR YODERS; three sons, Charles Lynn of Pine Bank, Randy Lee of Spraggs R.D.1, and Larry Dale of Ravena, Ohio; a daughter, Mary ROBIN of Fairmont, W.Va.; two brothers, Richard and John, both of Holbrook; a sister, Mrs. Geraldine YODERS of Washington, and 12 grandchildren. Burial in Yoders Cemetery, Spraggs.======================= Silas Nelson (Sledge) Yoder, 62, of Holbrook, R.D.1, died at 10 a.m. Friday, November 18, 1965, in the Greene County Memorial Hospital after a lingering illness. He was born March 6, 1903, in Springhill Township to the late William Henry and Vida BARNHART YODER. He was married on October 20, 1934, to the former Edna BEATTY, who survives. Surviving in addition to his wife is one son, Herman, in the U.S Army at Fort Lee, Va,. Also surviving are three sisters, Mrs. Clyde (Jane) JONES of Aleppo, Mrs. Homer (Leona) WHITEMAN of Claysville and Mrs. Glenn (Augusta) CUMPSON of Carnot and three brothers, Allen of Carnot and Thomas and Hollie of New Freeport. Four brothers, Glenn William, John, and Hugh are deceased. He was a tool dresser and had worked in the oil and gas fields and had lived near Holbrook for the past 15 years. He was a member of the Waynesburg Lodge 461 L.O.O.M. and a social member of the James Farrell American Legion Post at Waynesburg. Zimmerman, 72, well-known farmer and horseman of Waynesburg, died at 12:15 p.m. Thursday, July 16, 1964, after being seriously ill for the past few weeks. For the past several years Mr. Zimmerman had been associated with his son, James B., in the raising, selling and racing of horses. He resided at RD 2 Waynesburg. His widow, Margaret R. Crumrine Zimmerman, whom he married December 30, 1916, survives. Born June 19, 1892, at Franklin Township, the son of James B. and Jeanie Tukesbrey Zimmerman, he resided in the Waynesburg area all of his life. Active in the Greene County Democratic Party, he was constable of Franklin Township and served as justice of the peace for several years. He was a member of the Morrisville Church, B.P.O.E. Lodge 757 and the Greene County Horseman's Association. Surviving in addition to his widow, are three children, Mrs. Thomas "Alma" Garret of Huntington Beach, Calif., George L. Jr. of Alamogordo, New Mexico and James B. of RD 3, Waynesburg. Also surviving are eight grandchildren and a sister, Mrs. Daisy Mauger of Mt. Vernon, Ohio. Born June 16, 1926, in Deep Valley, Greene Co., Pa., she was a daughter of the late George F. and Edna Barnhart Plants. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Goff McCoy, in 1968. Surviving are three sons, David A. McCoy, Hopewell Township; Robert McCoy, Greensboro, N.C., and J. Michael McCoy, Porter, Maine; a daughter, Diane Polachek, Archbold, Ohio; eight grandchildren, Roxanne McCartney, Cynthia McCoy, Sherri Lord, Carolyn Whitaker, Gregory McCoy, Stacey Wheeler, Tanya McCoy and Christopher McCoy, and three great-grandchildren, Brendan and Lauren Whitaker, and Joseph McCartney.
