Family tradition, told to my by my ex-father-in-law years ago, was that his
great-grandmother several generations before was an Indian Princess, and
descended from the Shoe Tribe. I have searched, but found not Shoe Tribe, but
there are Shoshone, which were from the west and not in this area, so must
not be them.
This email came into my puter this afternoon:

Subject: [GEORGE-L] Indian george
The george family apparently were Indians and/or Indian traders, as
they are listed in the index of a book called "South Carolina Indians and
Indian Traders," about the white family's who married Indians.
Also, the site has alot of Indian genealogical information - rolls, indexes,
etc.
The site is http://members.aol.com/rarebk
Go to the booklists page, and scroll down till you see the book, and
invoke the index from there.
Steve.
