My Durbin Family History

The Durbin Family of Maryland and Pa.

It has been brought to my attention that there is absolutely no proof for the parentage of Christopher Durbin of Maryland and the info on this page must be used with caution. NOTES in brown are from Bill Durbin, another researcher of the Durbin line. He has donated some of his work for the site. Thank You, Bill!

The author of this histroy below was Kate Durbin Golden, her works can be found in the Library of Congress
The progenitor of my Durbin Family was Christopher Durbin, who was born in Maryland, around 1735. Only the last name of his wife is known. He married a Parkinson. They had five known children; Stephen Durbin, b. ca. 1760/61, and died 13-May.1847.NOTE: 3) Some records show that the Stephen Durbin you list under Christopher actually married a Mary Durbin, not a McDowell, a first cousin. He married Mary McDowell, or possibly McDougall. She was born ca. 1790; Nancy Durbin b. Maryland 1772, m. 1815 to David Ruple, a farmer; Edward Durbin, born in Maryland ca. 1775, who married Matilda Finch, who was born in Virginia in 1811; Thomas Durbin, born in Maryland, 8-Dec.1783, and died 26-Mar.1854, at the age of 70 years, 3 months, and 18 days. He is buried in the Durbin Cemetery, in Greene County, Pa. along with his wife Hannah Hughes, who was born in Maryland, 12-Jul.1783, she died 20-Oct.1850, aged 67 years, 3 months, and 8 days.; Benjamin Durbin, born in Maryland ca 1784 and died 22-Sep.1846. He married Nancy Parnel, who appeared in the 1850, Ohio County Va., Census taken 2-Aug.1850. I have the descent of all five children. My line is Thomas Durbin who married Hannah Hughes.
