New info on William THOMAS: From Matt W. Cumberledge Thank you, Matt!! I saw on you Family Histories Home Page, that you have William Thomas Death Date as April 21st 1789, that is a Very Common mistake. His Headstone at The Thomas Cemetery, in Monongalia Co, WVa says that...But that is Wrong. If you Look through the Pittsburgh Gazette Newspapers for the year 1789, you will find in the May 2 or 9 edition, that William Thomas and 2 Children and Joseph & Alice Cumberledge were Murdered on the Headwaters of Dunkard Creek, And Absalom VanMatre and Gabriel Eakins were the ones to Bury the % People......5. iv Ellis Thomas married Phobe Vanmeter, daughter of (d/o) Henry and Martha Vanmeter.
